It’s time for the wolf boys of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals to put their fangs away as the pilot of the new Roswell series starts filming this week.
Julie Plec, the creator of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries and The Originals is currently in New Mexico filming the new Roswell pilot. Michael Trevino, who played Tyler Lockwood in The Vampire Diaries is working alongside Nathan Parsons, who played Jackson Kenner in The Originals. Also starring in the star-studded reboot of the ’90s series are Tyler Blackburn from Pretty Little Liars and Jeanine Mason from Grey’s Anatomy.
In the interim, our other fave TVD actors have been busy. Nina Dobrev (Elena) has been cast to lead a new CBS pilot Fam. Dobrev will star in the dysfunctional family comedy alongside Tone Bell of Netflix’s Disjointed
Kat Graham (Bonnie) is voicing April O’Neil in the Nickelodeon series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And Joseph Morgan (Klaus) has confirmed he has been cast to star in the pilot of a Fox drama based on Dennis Lehane’s best selling book Gone Baby Gone
The final season of The Originals is set for some serious time jumping, with Klaus and Hayley’s daughter Hope Mikaelson morphing into a teenager, played by Danielle Rose Russell. We anticipate the long-awaited ramp-up of the #Klaroline relationship with Klaus reuniting with Caroline.
At the end of The Vampire Diaries, Caroline and Alaric had set up The Salvatore Boarding School for the Young and Gifted in Mystic Falls. In the montage at the end of season 4 of The Originals, a young Hope arrived at the school, with Alaric stating his aim of mentoring supernatural kids so they are comfortable with who they are.
With Alaric and Hope highlighted as characters in the new Vampire Diaries spin-off series in development for 2019, The Originals will provide the perfect segue into the next generation of newbie vampires, wolves and witches. Other actors connected to the new spin-off series include Aria Shahghasemi, who will be introduced as Hope’s friend toward the end of The Originals, plus Kaylee Bryant from Santa Clarita Diet and Quincy Fouse from Logan.
While there is no word that Paul Wesley or Ian Somerhalder will be connected to the spin-off in development, Julie Plec does have a knack for bringing her characters back to life – even the dead ones. Our fingers are crossed that we may see a teeny glimpse of the Salvatore brothers united on screen once more.
